The Seton Center has been contracted through the Area Agency on Aging to act as the Ombudsman for residents of Westmoreland County long-term care facilities. Our Ombudsman offices are located in the Monahan Center near the campus of Seton Hill University in Greensburg.

An Ombudsman is a specially trained individual who helps protect the rights of older Pennsylvanians living in long-term care facilities. Ombudsmen provide relevant information, answer questions, investigate complaints about the quality of care or treatment from long-term care providers, and offer assistance in resolving problems.

Our staff members serve as mediators, seeking to resolve issues affecting people 60 years of age or older who are residents of 132 nursing homes and personal care homes, or who receive long-term care services in their home or community. They work effectively with these individuals, their families and friends, long-term care facility staff, government agencies, and community groups. Our personnel are caring and empathetic, are good listeners, and are skilled in negotiating, mediating, and problem solving.
